Prepare to be amazed as I take you on an exhilarating journey through my world as a Sign Designer. It all began when I was just 19 years old, toiling away in a humble garage, where I first discovered the captivating art of sign making. From hand-painted masterpieces to eye-catching banners, window lettering, yard signs, and vehicle lettering, I honed my craft and transformed that modest garage into a renowned digital outdoor sign company.
But that's not all. Fast forward a few years to my next venture, "The Sign Factory," nestled in the heart of downtown Evansville, Indiana. As the business thrived, I became the sole proprietor, rebranding it as "The Paint Bucket." With expanding demand, we relocated to a larger facility on the east side of town, while I simultaneously flexed my artistic muscles in the Art Department of Red Spot Paint Company.
As my journey continued, I immersed myself in the prestigious world of "Letterheads" meetings, an annual event that united the finest sign painters from far and wide. This extraordinary gathering provided a platform to unlock trade secrets, showcase unique skills, and exchange groundbreaking ideas on infusing custom touches into designs. It was a dazzling highlight for sign designers like me.
Prepare for a cinematic twist as I share an exhilarating chapter. Picture this: the year is 1991, and I find myself on the art crew for the iconic motion picture "A League of Their Own," filmed right here in Evansville. Alongside my talented colleagues, I meticulously painted vintage signs and billboards in multiple cities, recreating a mesmerizing baseball atmosphere from the 1950s. The experience was nothing short of thrilling and enriching.
But the excitement didn't stop there. The following year, I embarked on a new adventure with Universal Outdoor (now Lamar Outdoor Advertising) as a painter and pictorial artist. From colossal billboards to awe-inspiring posters, I meticulously hand-painted breathtaking creations of all sizes. Whether it was simple block letters or intricate renditions of cars, portraits, furniture, or architectural designs, I skillfully brought them to life, leaving a trail of awe-struck onlookers in my wake.
While the advent of printed flex face technology eventually replaced hand-painted billboards, my unwavering passion for outdoor advertising remained steadfast. Over the years, I expanded my expertise to include sign vinyl, installation, and design. Today, I possess the ability to oversee the entire process of creating custom indoor or outdoor metal, wooden, or di-bond signs—from design conceptualization and plotting to weeding and application of vinyl.
But wait, there's more! In addition to my illustrious sign design career, I co-created KP's Music Rodeo—a truly extraordinary Music Venue/Restaurant located in Troy, TN. Teaming up with my talented friend and songwriter extraordinaire, Kirk Morris, we crafted a one-of-a-kind scene that seamlessly blended the energy of the Wild Horse Saloon with the charm of Cracker Barrel. KP's Music Rodeo quickly became a sought-after destination, and I proudly embraced my roles as a country music/songwriter event planner, restaurant owner, and Line Dance Instructor.
Since 1995, I have dedicated myself to the art of custom sign and logo design, perpetually pushing the boundaries of my skills and taking my talent to soaring new heights. I've had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed companies such as Riley's Graphics, Mill's Body Shops and Graphics, Pro Image Company, and currently Ad-Vision/Vision Graphics and Wraps. These incredible experiences have allowed me to master the art of Wrap Design and custom fits, igniting an insatiable passion for design within me.
As I specialize in a vast array of services, including Digital Prints, Vehicle Wraps, and more, my commitment to unleashing unstoppable creativity fuels my love for design. And now, my ultimate goal beckons—to become a Billboard Designer in a major city like Nashville or Indianapolis, there I will have achieved one very important life goal.
I do have an ultimate goal as billboard Designer for a BIG CITY such as Nashville, Indianapolis. . . . .
